Are you in need of a SIMPLE and TASTY sugar cookie recipe for Valentines Day? Don't worry, I've got you covered. It overjoys me to say it is that time of year again when the food becomes extra sweet and savory. Cookies, stuffing’s, pies, eggnog, and gravy has me more excited to get into the kitchen than ever before. I don’t know about you, but I love seeing my Pinterest feed morph from summertime interests into delicious holiday recipes and warm and cozy outfits.
I grew up in a family where food is very much appreciated no matter what the season. One of my favorite memories during the holidays is making sugar cookies with my mom. Her recipe is simple, and it truly is one of the best sugar cookie recipes I have ever had in my entire life! Every time I make these gems, I get raving reviews and an immediate request for the recipe!
I am all about spreading the love, so take a look below at this favorite family recipe of mine. It is also great to make with kids because the dough is so easy to handle. This recipe is wonderful to give as simple gifts for people, and is always a crowd favorite at get together’s! Enjoy
Momma Kim’s Sugar Cookies
Yields 10+| 350 degrees
Ingredients
2 Cups of Butter (4 sticks)
2 Cups of Granulated Sugar
2 Large Eggs
2 teaspoons Almond Extract
6 Cups of Flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
Directions
In a large bowl, or mixer add together softened butter, sugar, and eggs. Beat until creamy, and then add in the almond extract.
Combine the dry ingredients in a separate bowl: Flour, Baking Powder, and Salt. Mix together evenly, and then turn your mixer on low.
Add in the flour mixture one cup at a time, until you have mixed in the entire bowl. I like to get the dough and form it into a couple of balls (Baseball size) and then refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
Once the dough is refrigerated, get a rolling pin and roll out the dough to your desired thickness. I will say, these cookies are amazing when they are thick!
Bake at 350 degrees for about 5-7 minutes. Let them cool for a little while, and then apply whatever frosting you desire!
Eat.
Happy Baking!
