Have you been in a workout rut? Because I sure have! There are days when I plain just don't feel like doing ANYTHING. With the holidays over, I can finally focus again! When I skip my workout, my energy levels plummet, and my brain is not releasing the positive endorphins that make me happy. I have complete control over this!
It’s easy to get caught up in my own small minded world with no regard to what others who motivate me to be better are doing. I decided to take the bull by the horns, and step away from my normal day to day routine. What I have found, is that this small tweak will not only leave you motivated to turn a new leaf over, but it will give you a fresh perspective on your overarching goals.
1. Music
This is cheap, and simple. When you get a good playlist going on your iPod, it makes you want to get up and dance (or even get out and run). Inspirational tunes, and words not only make you feel more energized, but they also can get you moving when you may not have wanted to otherwise. Create a new playlist and become inspired! See my marathon playlists here.
2. Motivational Images
Do you have that bikini you would love to fit into, or that photo of a race or event you would love to complete one day? Take a look at those images, or items to remind yourself what you want to work toward. With this little push, you may be inspired to go out, and get a mini workout it. Not only will it push you one step further to your goals, but you will also feel more energized and rejuvenated in the process! This is YOU getting out of your rut!
3. Get a Workout Buddy
There is nothing more motivating than knowing you have a friend waiting for you at the gym. You don’t want to sleep in, and leave them high and dry now would you? I didn’t think so. Having a friend who you can workout with not only makes the process more inviting and fun, but it also keeps you on track to achieving your goals. Excuses, and skipping a workout not only will set you back but it will leave your workout buddy without an accountability partner. Another important bonus to having a workout partner is the safety benefits it provides. You will have someone spotting you, and talking to your throughout your workout, which should give you a sense of safety.
I hope these small tips will help you as much as they helped me! Starting off on a new leaf, new routine, or around new scenery will kick that rut to the curb. You owe it to yourself to become the best and happiest version of you, you can be!
Get Out There!
